How to make French Toast with a Toaster Oven

How to make French Toast with a Toaster Oven

French Toast is a dish of soaked bread, usually sliced into rounds and fried in butter or oil. It is often served with syrup or preserves. The French word “pain perdu” literally means “lost bread,” but the name has come to refer to its culinary use rather than literal meaning. Breakfast food is traditional in the United States; You can eat it at any time of day.

French Toast was introduced to America by Charles Dickens during his 1842 visit; he enjoyed it so much that he had it three times while visiting Philadelphia for breakfast. His recipe brought whipped eggs and milk to the pan before adding the bread slices, which were quickly dipped in flour first before cooking in butter on both sides until golden brown on each side.

Baked French Toast Ingredients

1/4 cup milk

3 eggs

2 tablespoons sugar

8 slices day-old bread, crusts removed

Powdered sugar for dusting the finished Toast (optional)

Preheat your toaster oven to 350 degrees. Spray cooking spray inside a baking dish or on top of a sheet tray.

In a medium bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, and sugar. Dip each slice of bread for a few seconds on each side so that it is soaked through but not falling apart.

Layer the slices in the baking dish or sheet tray. Turn them over a couple of times to ensure they are evenly coated with egg mixture. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on top. Serve warm with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes: You can use a range for those without a toaster oven as well (it will just take longer). Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and bake for 20-25 minutes instead! If you want thicker French Toast, double up on ingredients and follow exactly as above.
